Fondue is great way to throw a spin on dinner parties and special occasions.

Fondue is a fun way to serve a meal and perfect for occasions like holidays, small parties with friends, or even just a fun change for a family meal. Fondue is easy to prepare and gives the cook a chance to spend less time in the kitchen and more time socializing with friends and family.

Fondue can be served in one pot as part of the meal, or make three separate fondues for a complete three-course meal.

Usually the first fondue course is a variety of cheese fondue. There are a plethora of cheese fondue recipes, and cooks can create a delicious appetizer using their favorite cheeses. Cheese fondue is usually accompanied with French bread or bagels, and an assortment of fruits and vegetables to dip.

Cut up small pieces of seafood, beef, chicken, or tofu to dip in the fondue pot for the main course. The meat can either be cooked in your favorite cooking oil, or in broth for a healthier alternative. Have a mixture of sauces on hand to dip the meat or tofu in.

Dip fruit, cake, or cookies into your favorite dessert fondue. There are dessert fondue recipes to satisfy even the sweetest tooth ranging from recipes like caramel apple fondue, orange marmalade fondue, and just plain chocolate.

Tips

  • Be sure to have plenty of tiny plates, napkins, and skewers.
  • Supply salads or other finger foods for people to munch on while they are cooking their food.
  • Have an assortment of sauces available for guests to dip their meat in.
  • Keep small children away from fondue pots to avoid painful accidents.

Fondue Party Ideas

  • Combine wine tasting with a fondue party. Fondue involves a variety of foods, and this can be a great opportunity to experiment with the different pairings.
  • A potluck fondue party. Ask guests to bring a fondue pot with their favorite fondue recipe prepared in it. It’s a fun way to sample different fondues, and less work for the host/hostess.
  • Throw a 70's themed fondue party. Fondue parties were very popular in the 70’s, so celebrate the decade. Guests can don their bellbottoms, listen to disco, and enjoy some great food with friends.
  • Seasonal Fondue party. Be creative and cook fondue recipes that include food from the season, like roast pumpkin and cheese fondue in the autumn.
  • A vegan fondue party. For ethical eaters and the health conscious, put a unique spin on regular fondue and try out some vegan fondue recipes.
  • Around the world fondue party. Have a regionally themed party, serving fondue recipes that are unique to that area.
