When organizing a Halloween celebration, the preparing is often as much fun as the party itself. All that creepy and gross Halloween food needs some good imagination.
Of course, making sure that everything tastes very delicious will make people forget the creepy factor and have everyone dive right in.
Following are some fun food ideas for any Halloween party, that will have guests talking and raving long after the party is finished and over with.
Monster Eyeballs
Fun and creepy eyeballs made with hard boiled eggs.
- 12-24 (depending on the number of guests) hard boiled eggs
- Green olives with pimientos
- Red food coloring
Peel the eggs after they have cooled. Cut out a small hole in the middle of each egg and stuff an olive into it so that the red pepper faces out. Next, get a small fruit knife and dip the tip into the red food coloring. Carefully cut small 'veins' on the egg around the olive making sure that the food coloring seeps in.
Green Slime Soup
This soup tastes great, but it will look like very nasty slime!
- 2 cans pea soup
- 1 package of ground beef or ground turkey
- 1/2 bag of shredded yellow cheddar cheese
Brown and season ground beef or turkey, making sure that it remains pretty chunky. Then, heat the pea soup in a large saucepan and mix in the ground meat. Stir in the shredded cheese making sure it melts in and stays stringy.
Vampire Blood
Great tasting blood for those vampires on the guest list.
- 4 cups cold milk
- 4 oz. vanilla or plain yogurt
- 8 tablespoons white chocolate powder mix
- Dark red food coloring
- Brown food coloring
Put all ingredients in a large blender (for a smaller blender cut ingredients list in half) and mix until it takes on a semi-thick liquid form (like 'movie' blood). Add the food coloring until it looks blood red. The drink can be poured over ice or alone for an authentic blood feel. Serve in metal goblets, if possible, or other funky looking glassware.
Gooey Green Boogers
- 6 pack vanilla pudding cups (or pudding can also be made from mix if desired)
- Lime green food coloring
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Add the food coloring to the pudding until it looks like slimy boogers. Mix in the chopped nuts so they look like chunks of hard boogers.
Rotten Burgers
- 1 package ground turkey (or beef, but turkey will take food coloring better since it is lighter)
- 1/2 cup white rice (aka maggots)
- Green food coloring
Directions:
- Place a few drops of the green coloring into seasoned ground turkey and mix it well. Form the turkey into patties and roll on the cooked rice making sure the grains stick well but sparingly. Cook the patties on a skillet with olive oil or any other oil available.
- Serve the burgers on their own and have the buns and condiments available separately. This way, the guests will get a good look at the 'rotten burgers' for the full effect.
Also, the left over rice can be sprinkled around the food table as an added maggot bonus.
These food ideas for Halloween can be prepared quickly and will surely amuse every guest. Be sure to serve them with the proper presentation, such as spiders, melting candles, fun Halloween plates, rubber bugs, or anything else that will add to the creepy food factor of this fun celebration.
