Nothing screams Halloween like a fun festive party. Getting into the spirit means creating an imaginative menu of spooky foods for your party guests to enjoy. Whether you're planning on entertaining 4 or 40, gain wickedly wonderful inspiration from these menu ideas.

Appetizers:

Haunted Forest Platter

  • For a ghoulish feast on the spookiest of holidays start with appetizers that look inviting and taste appealing. An imaginative appetizer such as the Haunted Forest Platter which is completely edible is filled with broccoli stalk trees and hard boiled egg ghosts. Moss for the platter is made from spaghetti that has been boiled with green food coloring.

Dressed Up Tomato Soup

  • Another frightful appetizer, which is also fairly easy to do, is to serve tomato soup which any guest dressed like a vampire will surely appreciate. The soup can be served in test tubes in smaller appetizer sized portions, or bowls for a more formal dinner party.

Deathly Dips

  • A fun and easy Halloween dip to serve is Monster Mash, a hummus dip made from garbanzo beans and accompanied with pita bread that has been cut into Frankenstein monster shapes with a cookie cutter.

THE MAIN COURSE

Racks of Ribs

  • An impressive Halloween main course is accomplished by presenting two succulent racks of pork spare ribswith spicy Jamaican jerk seasoning, placed side by side to resemble a human ribcage. Half a roasted red bell pepper placed in between the racks resembles a heart, and sticking a large cutting knife into the roasted pepper makes for a scary but delicious main course meal.

Spooky Spaghetti

  • A steaming plate of spaghetti with marinara sauce can be the base of another spooky meal. Top plates of spaghetti with mini mozzarella balls that have sliced black olives pressed into them, and it will appear that there are eyeballs in the spaghetti.

Mummy Dogs

  • A fun main course for both children and adults are mummy dogs, hot dogs that are wrapped in bread stick dough and baked to resemble mummies. Simply use mustard or ketchup to make the eyes for an amusing Halloween dinner.

SIDE DISHES

Ghostly Mashed Potatoes

  • To accompany the rib main course, serve mashed potatoes shaped into ghosts. Eyes for the ghost can be created by placing two small pieces of chopped black olive into the mashed potato sculpture.

Halloween Salad

  • A spinach salad topped with toasted pumpkin seeds and a dressing of olive oil and balsamic vinegar is another simple side dish with festive flair.

Roasted Garlic Spread

  • To keep the vampires away, Slice the tops off of several cloves of garlic, then drizzle with olive oil and place in a baking pan. Roast the cloves for 35 to 40 minutes at 425 degrees. Guests can squeeze the roasted cloves out of the skin and spread on crusty baked slices of sourdough baguettes.

Serve these ghoulishly good dishes along with some spooky Halloween party cocktails, or finish off the meal with luscious caramel apples for a frightfully good time.
