Once you pick out the dogs' Halloween costumes and you get the animal Jack-o-Lantern carving done, start cooking fun recipes for a Halloween party with pets!

A Halloween party for pet owners and their dogs is a perfect time to show off those dog Halloween costumes, and it's also a fun excuse to carve some dog breed Jack-o-Lanterns.

But what foods will be served at this unique Halloween party? There should definitely be some dog-friendly recipes available for the dogs, but don't forget the human Halloween party guests! These funny Halloween food recipes are sure to please ghouls, goblins and ghosts of all sorts.

A Severed Hand in the Punch Bowl! (Or Dog Water Bowl)

A severed hand is a perfect addition to every Halloween party punch bowl! And when it's a Halloween party with pets, the party host can even make up a couple extra severed hands for the hounds!

The Halloween Party host will need:

  • Rubber Gloves -OR- Latex Gloves
  • A Freezer
  • Running Water
  • Water or Punch
  • Food Coloring (optional)
  • String or Rubber Elastics

Directions:

  1. Begin by collecting the gloves. Each hand will last about one hour, so plan accordingly.
  2. Next, rinse each glove with hot water.
  3. Turn the gloves inside out.
  4. Fill the gloves with punch or water. Food coloring can also be added to create different severed hand colors.
  5. Close each glove at the wrist with a string or rubber elastic.
  6. Place each hand in the freezer. For a spookier effect, use other packages and items already in the freezer to "pose" the fingers.
  7. Allow the severed hands to freeze overnight.
  8. Once frozen, run each severed hand under warm water for a moment to melt the connection to the glove.
  9. Remove the gloves and the severed hands are ready to be added to a punch bowl or dog's water bowl!

Kitty Litter Cake

A Kitty Litter Cake is the perfect Halloween recipe for pet lovers on October 31st! Beware, this fun Halloween party food will look very realistic!

The Halloween party host will need:

  • A New Kitty Litter Box
  • A New Kitty Litter Scoop
  • Cake (German Chocolate Cake is often preferred, but a homemade cake recipe works too)
  • Vanilla Sandwich Cookies
  • Frosting
  • A Cup of Vanilla Pudding
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • Large Tootsie Rolls
  • A Microwave
  • An Oven
  • A Newspaper

Directions:

  1. Begin by baking a cake slightly larger than the bottom of the kitty litter box.
  2. Once the cake has been baked and cooled, transfer the cake into the kitty litter box. Trim the cake to fit the litter box, if necessary.
  3. Coat the top of the cake with frosting.
  4. Crumble the vanilla sandwich cookies into small bits so they resemble kitty litter. Put a couple of generous handfuls of the crumbled cookies to the side. Using the rest of the cookies, generously coat the top of the cake, concealing the frosting beneath, but be uneven in the distribution to create a "walked through" appearance.
  5. Retrieve the vanilla pudding cup and mix in some blue food coloring.
  6. Take about half of the crumbled cookies that were placed aside and mix with a small spoonful of pudding to give them a blue coloring. Keep the rest of the crumbled cookies for an upcoming step.
  7. Scatter the blue cookie bits throughout the litter box to imitate the blue crystals found in many brands.
  8. Unwrap about half a dozen large Tootsie Rolls and place them on a plate.
  9. Microwave the Tootsie Rolls for about 20 seconds or until soft and pliable.
  10. Mold the Tootsie Rolls into the shape of cat poop! Place the "cat poop" throughout the "litter" (remember, cats will partially bury their "business!") and place one or two hanging over the side of the litter box edge.

Halloween party hosts should note that the underlying cake recipe can be substituted with homemade cakes of other varieties, as long as it will work well with the crumbled cookies!

To get the full effect of this fun Halloween party food, place the Kitty Litter Cake atop a newspaper and use the remaining cookie bits (which were put aside earlier) and sprinkle them atop the newspaper to create a "walked through" look.

A Kitty Litter Cake and Severed Hands for the punch or water bowl are sure to be a perfect addition to a creepy Halloween party menu. So dress those dogs in pet Halloween costumes, find some animal pumpkin carving patterns, cook up some spooky Halloween party food and get ready for a haunted Halloween night!
